Cisco ISE 2.1 FQDN
Bleeding edge technology can be frustrating to say the least. I am creating this blog because I cannot find anything outside of Cisco’s website on ISE 2.1.
I found an interesting issue with domain suffixes that stalled the installation of a new deployment of ISE. From the ‘Administration->Deployment’ page, when you select ‘Register->Register an ISE Node’ you have to opportunity to place the hostname of your server seen below.
When you try to add a non standard domain like mine that includes numeric values like ‘cisco.u12‘, you will get denied with the error ‘FQDN is invalid’ the moment you type the numeric value. Boo.
Let’s get to the good news: This issue is confirmed to be resolved in Patch 2 for Cisco ISE scheduled to be released soon. If you have an immediate need for resolution on this issue, Cisco TAC can patch it manually. http://www.cisco.com.
